The Eight Thonglor is quite possibly situated in the perfect location of Thonglor, not too far from the BTS and not too far from the rest of Thong Lor (Sukhumvit soi 55) which is the most popular and sought-after residential area in all of Sukhumvit and quite possibly Bangkok. The building has a Tops Western supermarket in the basement floor and has a small lifestyle mall inside as well which makes the building great for those who like the “one stop shop” type of residence. The units in the building are a mixed bag, the good units will have a nice layout while some seem like they were after thoughts in the grand floor plans.
The location is what makes Eight Thonglor Residence so popular not the building itself. While the building is definitely not bad at all, for those looking for a condo that really feels like and could be a permanent home, the Eight Thonglor does not feel very homey.
There is really nothing super bad about Eight Thonglor Residence although the traffic in front of the building comes in either 2 states, gridlocked or dangerous as crossing the road can be like a human game of Frogger when there isn’t a bad traffic jam as there are few stop lights and people tend to drive dangerously fast for Bangkok.
Renting a Condo at Eight Thonglor Residence
If you are all about living in Thong Lor as many expats are, it shouldn’t be too difficult to find a unit for rent in Eight Thonglor, there are about 80 one-bedroom and 80 2-bedroom units in the building so finding one will not be as difficult as a 3-bedroom in which there are less than 30 units total. There are also junior penthouse units and the grand penthouse units which are super rarely for rent and may take you a decade to find one become available.
Buying a Condo at Eight Thonglor Residence
In 2017 and beyond you will be overpaying at around ฿200,000 per square meter if you want to buy in Eight Thonglor. The majority of the owners have little incentive to sell for fair prices as they are receiving a great Return of Investment (ROI) renting out their condos to expats as well as overpaying Japanese in which the building is very popular. If you are a person that believes in the old saying of “location, location, location” Eight Thonglor Residence could be a good place for you to buy. If you are concerned primarily with value for your real estate investment, it is probably best to look elsewhere as you will definitely not recieve value here.
The Eight Thonglor Residence ‘is what it is’ and what it is is a borderline nice to average condominium project in a GREAT LOCATION. If you are an expat and want to rent a convenient, modern place in an upscale area then look no further than the Eight Thonglor Residence. If you’re someone who is looking for something special, unique or something of value, there are better choices throughout Thong Lor, Sukhumvit and Central Bangkok.
